The ConfigMgr and Intune management solutions are now being grouped together as a single management suite named Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM) including also Desktop Analytics and the Device Management Admin Center. The product licencing is also been merged whereby existing ConfigMgr client’s licences will now include Intune by co management as well as the other products in Endpoint Manager.
This is a good logical move from Microsoft. It provides some unity between the traditional on-premise ConfigMgr and modern intune solutions. It encourages the traditional clients to move to go with co management. ConfigMgr is now seen as an integral part of Microsoft’s device management offering going forward. If clients wish to use advanced features like Desktop Analytics and the Device Management Admin Center they must also embrace co management and Intune. This also results in a unified experience for clients Intune and ConfigMgr managed devices where both can be accessed via the Enpoint Manager Portal.
